Cold rolling cassettes cold-roll wire rod into plain-round or ribbed wire, and on high-volume lines they take the place of drawing dies. The finished wire typically goes into welded reinforcing mesh, stirrups, cages and lattice girders for construction, foundations and precast plants.

A cold rolling cassette is a compact roll stand that holds two sets of three carbide roll rings and cold-rolls wire rod into plain-round or ribbed wire. It sits between the pay-off and the take-up; lubrication and water cooling are built in. Finished wire: 3–16 mm (down to 2.5 mm on request).

One pass or two
Most plants now run two cassettes. The first cassette reduces the rod with an oval (RO) and a round (RT) ring set. The second cassette finishes it: RO + CA for plain-round wire, FO + PR for ribbed wire. Each set has three rings. Two passes cost less per tonne, but each ring set carries more load and wears faster — which makes the choice of grade and ring type matter more. Send us your rod size and finished size, and we will match the full ring sequence.
GB 13788-2024. China's revised standard for cold-rolled ribbed bar (in force from September 2024) moves CRB550 from two-sided to three-sided ribs — the three-ring configuration.

For finished sizes above 14 mm, 25 mm-thick rings are used.
The roll holder is the mechanical interface between the rings and the cassette; its fit decides how true the rings run and how long they last.

Can you supply rings for a cassette made by another maker?
Yes. Rings, roll holders and spares are matched to the cassette model; for the makes listed above, the model is enough. For others, send a worn ring and holder or a drawing.
Should I run one pass or two?
Two passes are now the more common setup and cost less per tonne, but each ring set carries more load. That makes the grade and ring type more important. Send the rod size and finished size, and we propose the full ring sequence.
What do I need for ribbed wire to GB 13788-2024?
CRB550 and CRB650 have three-sided ribs and use three-ring sets; CRB600H has two-sided ribs and uses two-ring sets. Tell us the grade and the finished size, and we match the forming and ribbing rings.
Can the rings be engraved?
Yes — with your own marking. Tell us the text when you order.
What is the lead time?
